Product Summary

The SmartStraps RatchetX Ratchet Tie Down is a commercial duty tie down used to secure the heaviest loads often hauled on a large trailer or flatbed such as large equipment, larger tractors, and vehicles. The ratchet tie down has a comfortable over-molded, padded Power Grip™ handle and release pawl for extra grip and has extra durable stamped steel rails for maximum leverage. It also has high capacity, high visibility commercial duty webbing that is extra long for securing oversized, tall cargo . Includes protective hex caps to help keep ratchet mechanism clean. The strap features precision gearing thanks to more teeth along the sprocket of the ratchet, allowing the tension to stay under control when securing loads. Included Zerust material acts as a rust-inhibitor to improve the longevity of the ratchet.

What's Included

    (1) Ratchet tie-down

Quick No-Tie Securing Process

Step One

Feed the strong, yet flexible 2in. wide polypropylene webbing through the slot in the ratchet axel. The thick end stays flat and the large slot easily accommodates the strap.

Step Two

Fasten the end hooks to the tie-down points. The strong, heavy-gauge steel, double J-style hooks easily slide on and grab hold tight.

Step Three

Pull the webbing taut to reduce the amount of excess strap and remove play from the strap. The adjustable 27ft. strap length gives you the flexibility you need to handle the largest of loads.

Step Four

Pump the rugged, heavy-gauge steel ratchet handle to wind the rest of the excess strap onto the ratchet axel, creating an extra-tight hold that stays put.

Step Five

Close the ratchet handle to lock the strap in place. No more worries as the straps are designed to hold your load secure for the rest of the trip.

  1. Loop on the flat hook opposite end?

    Need to know is there a sewn loop on the opposite end of the flat hook strap to loop through so it can be used as a wheel bonnet strap (and if so how large is the loop?)OR is it designed just as a tie down?

    5. It has a large metal U type hook on each end. No loop..

    6. There is a Flat Hook on each end of the strap, and no loop, so it is designed just as a tie down.

    7. No, there is no loop, A loop would be too thick to pass through the slot in the take up mechanism. I would imagine you could have one sewn into the end after it is in the mechanism however , any modification would void any liability on the manufacturers part.

    8. This is a tie-down strap only, it does not have a loop needed to be used as a wheel bonnet strap. See some alternative options listed below.

  2. What are the dimensions of the hooks?

    What are the hook dimensions? overall length and width, length of hook, plate thickness, size and location of the hole?

    1. the plate is very similar to 1/8 inch steel plate, it's hardened and has a spring steel effect, so if you try to stretch it open or close it with vise life effect it has some spring to it, it will close down if enough pressure is applied but that is typical for any alloy steel, they fit easily through truck and trailer steal pockets of 3 1/2 inch, so they are I am going to say less than 3 inches in plate width

    2. The hooks measure 3-5/8" L x 2-5/8" W. The hole on each hook is 3/4" from where the strap attaches to the hook and is 1/4" in diameter. The hook plate is .179" thick or about 7 gauge. The total length of the ratchet with strap is 17-3/4".

    1. This 27 foot strap is adjustable but you cannot cut it down to make it shorter because the integrity of the strap would be compromised due to possible fraying or unraveling.
