Product Summary

This SmartStraps® Double J-Hook Ratchet Tie-Down is made of heavy-duty, high-visibility yellow polypropylene webbing for large work loads and a 10,000-lb. breaking strength. Rugged heavy-gauge steel ratchet is designed to withstand the rigors of heavy-duty cargo transport.

Quick No-Tie Securing Process

Step One

Feed the strong, yet flexible 2in. wide polypropylene webbing through the slot in the ratchet axel. The thick end stays flat and the large slot easily accommodates the strap.

Step Two

Fasten the end hooks to the tie-down points. The strong, heavy-gauge steel, double J-style hooks easily slide on and grab hold tight.

Step Three

Pull the webbing taut to reduce the amount of excess strap and remove play from the strap. The adjustable 27ft. strap length gives you the flexibility you need to handle the largest of loads.

Step Four

Pump the rugged, heavy-gauge steel ratchet handle to wind the rest of the excess strap onto the ratchet axel, creating an extra-tight hold that stays put.

Step Five

Close the ratchet handle to lock the strap in place. No more worries as the straps are designed to hold your load secure for the rest of the trip.

  2. Is the fabric of the strap resistent to UV light deterioration?

    1. These straps are made of Polypropylene. This material is great for chemical, heat or electrical resistance. However, Polypropylene degrades quickly when exposed to UV light (such as sunlight), There are treatments which can improve polypropylene's resistance to UV light (such as polypropylene fibers with embedded zinc oxide or titanium oxide).

      Since another answer from a staff member indicated that these straps are NOT treated for UV resistance, don't count on them standing up long to sunlight, and check them often for brittleness and fraying.

      Polyester is highly resistant to UV degradation, and is often used in high strength ropes which need to stand up to long-term exposure to sunlight. If UV resistance is a concern, try the Smart Straps Commercial-Grade RatchetX J-Hook Tie-Down - see link below. A staff answer indicated that the straps in that link are made of polyester.

    1. I believe they're heavy duty nylon !

    2. I think they are a re-inforced nylon. They're very heavy woven material and they stretch a bit when ratcheted down.

    1. I don't believe so. These are a high-visibility Yellow and make it easy to check your load at night. Most manufacturers have a single color to distinguish their brand from others.

  7. Can these be cut to a shorter lenght?

    1. NO! You cannot do that for safety reasons and under federal laws governing design of such straps; for these to work under stated load/usage requirements safely.

    1. This ratchet tie down has a strap that is 3' shorter and the hardware is not silver zinc coated like it is with the commercial grade ratchet tie-down.

    1. The total length of the hook is 3 3/4". From the inside bottom of hook to the tip of hook is 1 1/4".
