Thank you for your question. We do not recommend using a router speed control device with the W1850, as the machine was not designed to operate at variable speeds. Doing so could potentially damage the motor or other electrical components.

How many belts come with the unit? 1” and 8” and what grits are they?

The belt/disc sander would include one sanding belt and one 8" abrasive disk. The sanding belts are available in grits of 80-220 and the sanding discs are available in grits of 60-220. The replacements are available through the manufacturer.
