  1. Maximum CLAMPING thickness?

    Will the M1011 brake CLAMP 16 or 14 gauge metal? I see that it is only RATED for 20 gauge bends, but I am cutting "bend-lines" to make bending easier. Will this brake CLAMP on sheet metal thicker than 20 gauge?

    1. For clamping ONLY, yes you can raise the fingers one full inch to hold any gauge in place for marking bend lines. It should also lock the work in place by adjusting the turnbuckles - but I would not try actual bending on metal thicker than 20 gauge.

    2. I've clamped and bent 12" wide 14 and 16 gauge aluminum with no problems.

    3. The Shop Fox box and pan brake would have a maximum clamp capability of 20 gauge too.

  2. I just ordered a Fox Box M1011

    The pictures depict more fingers. How many fingers come with the product I just ordered?

    1. The picture on the owner's manual shows only 5 fingers, but both M1011's I purchased have 10 fingers. The apparently previous version included two 9 inch fingers which greatly reduced the brake's versatility. Maximum finger width on the current version is 4 inches, which offers much greater flexibility and allows you to make smaller boxes. Of course, two 4 inch fingers can be combined to make a 9 inch bend if needed.

    3. The Shop Fox Brake will come with a total of 10 fingers. 1" fingers (qty 2), 2" fingers (qty 4), 3" Fingers (qty 2) and 4" fingers (qty 2). The sizes can be mixed in several orientations to better accommodate different bends.

    1. The maximum box depth is 1-3/4”.

  4. What thickness of aluminum can this brake safely bend?

    I'm looking for a brake solution for bending .063" aluminum sheet which is less than 12" wide. Would this model work for my application?

    1. This brake is only rated to bend up to 20 gauge, which translates to 0.032" for aluminum. It will not be able to bend your 0.063" thick sheet of aluminum.

  5. Where buy replacement fingers

    I would like to buy additional fingers. Can you get replacement fingers for the M1011?

  6. What would be the capacity of this machine only bending 12" wide parts?

    I have 12" wide or less parts to bend (.060) thick and need a machine that would handle this.
