  1. I see it takes up to a 20" dia log but how does it do with a 6" dia log

    1. Smaller diameter logs will be more difficult to hold for cutting.

    2. For a 6" log, I would probably save a few dollars and get the 48" model. The size of the cant hook on my 60" "may" do ok with a 6" log, but 7" is about the smallest that I would advise. (6" may slip due to the size of the hook).

    3. The tool grasp is too large for 6" logs. I would recommend a single hook model with a shorter length handle. The Tool is engineered to manipulate large hard wood trees.

    4. I use this one for the larger logs and the Roughneck Steel Core A-Frame Timberjack — 48in.L Item# 38673 for the smaller ones. Between the 2 you can pick up most any logs.

  3. What is the weight capacity of this tool? Will it pick up a 30ft log and allow me to place the tool 10' from the end in order to do so?

    1. My log was about 12 x 14 D shaped, 12' long Ash, I couldn't lift it from the middle, only from a few feet in from the end. I think it would need a handle that was too long to reach the end of (8-10 ft) or a very heavy user for me to have lifted it from closer in (I tried). 2 people might do it but if one slipped someone would probably get hit in the face as the handle shoots back up.

    2. This timberjack does not have a specific weight capacity. It can be used to pick up a 30' log and also be placed 10' from one end.

  5. Can the A-frame be removed to use this tool as a cant hook for large logs? If so, what diameter logs will it work for that use?

    1. This frame is held on with bolts and could be removed. The log diameter would still be 20".

  7. How high off the ground does it lift the log? Basically what is the measurement from the bottom of the a frame to where the log rests when lifted?

    1. The height it will lift off the ground and measurement from the bottom of the frame to where the log rests would be 9.06" when lifted.
