The Simplest Do-It-Yourself Design

No need to stress out about the building process. This framing kit is so simple that all you really need is some basic carpentry skills, some lumber and a few tools. Just use standard straight cuts to size your wood, follow the plans, pound in some nails, and voila, you have a storage shed, tool shed, mini barn, animal shelter, wood shed … it's up to you!

No Angles To Cut

Pre-angled brackets are specially designed to attach to standard 2 x 4s, holding them perfectly in place and eliminating the need for special mitered cuts or precise angle measurements. No worries, the brackets automatically take care of all the tough work for you!

Gambrel Roof Design

This kit features a gambrel roof design, using 2 slopes on each side of the top ridge to reduce the angle of the roof and produce a more rounded, smoother look.

Step-By-Step Instructions

Each kit comes with easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions that take all of the guesswork out of the assembly process. And a complete materials list is also included so you'll know exactly what lumber you'll need before you get started.

Corrosion-Resistant Brackets

All of the 40 angle brackets and 12 stud brackets included in this kit are made from rugged 24-gauge galvanized steel to prevent rust and corrosion. The result is a frame that's built to last!

Cost Efficient

This do-it-yourself kit is very cost effective when compared to pre-fabricated sheds and buildings and is also very easy to transport, as you can carry the box right to the building site. Add your own choice of lumber (not included) to customize your design.

Add On to Customize Your Size

Multiple kits can be combined to increase the size of your building. One kit constructs a 7ft.W x 8ft.L building. Two kits can be used to build an 8ft.W x 14ft.L structure, or three kits can be combined into a 10ft.W x 22ft.L building.

    what is the witdth of the door openng, height is listed as 6 '?

    1. Instead of running 6' studs for the walls I ran 8' studs. This gave me much for room to put in a regular exterior house door on mine.

    2. The door widths will vary depending on the size of the plans that you are building. The 7 X 8 building has a door that measures 4 feet wide and 6 feet tall. The 8 x 14 building has a door that measures 4 feet wide and 7 feet tall. The 10 x 22 building has a door that measures 6 feet wide and 8 feet tall.

  2. Can you use 2 x 6 lumber?

    1. The brackets are designed to be used with 2 x 4 lumber, they would not fit to 2 x 6 lumber.

    I am looking for the sidewall height not just the interior center-line height.

    1. The sidewall height (where the angle/transition to the barn top starts) varies depending on the size of the shed/barn you are constructing. The 7' x 8' shed has a sidewall height of 4' 10-1/2". The 8' x 14' shed (2 framing kits) has a sidewall height of 5' 8". The 10' x 22' shed (3 framing kits) has a sidewall height of 6' 6".

  4. Wall Height and Door Height Options

    Can the wall be taller and the door taller ? I am looking to not duck when going in at least 6'6" to 7' Door. If raising the Height of the falls to 7' Can a lofft area be installed

    1. The wall height and door height dimensions are pre-set by design and there are no other options.

    1. This framing kit when ordered as a pair comes with plans for an 8' x 14' barn. The plans included are for that specific size, Northern Tool cannot make recommendations as to altering the size.

    1. This shed can be made up into three different sizes. One kit measures 7' long, 8' wide by 8' 1 9/16" high. Two kits would measure 8' long, 14' wide and 9' 6 9/16" tall. Three kits would measure 10' long, 22' wide and 11' 2 5/8" tall.

  7. Is there info for a floor in the instructions

    1. The instructions included with the Fast Barn Framing Kit do not include instructions for a floor. The manufacturer states that most surfaces(concrete, gravel, grass, etc.) will work as long as they are level and solid. Pressure treated wood should be used for any portion that comes in contact with the ground.
