The 2200 model does not offer 240 volt current availability. The 4000 model uses the same motor, and can provide up to 3100 continuous watts of power at 120 volts or at 240 volts. There are outlets installed on the generator for each voltage rating. It only costs a bit more, and is more versatile in this way. I own both generators and believe they are of excellent quality for the price paid.

I am planning to buy one of this model. But before I do, I would like to know if there is a model with a choice of 120v and 240v model.
I am shipping this out to the Philippines. I will take care of shipping from my home to the Philippines.

There is not a model in the 2200 watt range that has a choice between 120v or 240v. In order to have the option for both 120v and 240v you would have to upgrade to item #166112, it is the Powerhorse 4,000 watt generator.

Powerhorse Portable Generator - 2200 Surge Watts, 1800 Rated Watts
could i run my Northern Industrial 125 115V Flux Cored Welder on this Generator. ??
-
wdwrkr51· 12 years ago
Maybe - your answer depends entirely on how many watts of electricity your welder draws. This is a good generator, but it only outputs 1800 watts of electricity continuously, and up to 2200 watts momentarily - at motor startup for example. Look in your owner's manual for the current draw your welder demands

This generator would not be able to power the Northern Industrial 125 115V welder. The welder requires 2300 watts to operate it. May we recommend upgrading to the Powerhorse 4,000 surge watt generator #166112. See below.

Will this power 2 1000w bulbs?
hello, i'm looking to buy a generator and this fits my budget. I'm planning to use this when my family and i go fishing. What i would like to know if these would be able to power up 2 1000w par 64 lights safely.
also, on a full tank of 4 gallons, how long would i be able to run it before it goes empty?
Thanks!
-
wdwrkr51· 12 years ago
No, this generator can only supply 1800 watts of power continuously. Two 900 watt lights will work, the 1000 watt lights will not.
You can run it ten hours or more per tankful, in my experience.

This portable generator produces 1800 watts continuously which is less than the 2000 watts your application requires. Click the links below to view generators that have a 2000 watt(continuous) rating or higher.

Can I run 220 ac with this unit
-
wdwrkr51· 12 years ago
NO! There is no 220-240 volt capability with this generator. Look instead at the 4000 watt generator, or larger, for 240 volt capability.

Will it power a 110 volt mig welder
-
wdwrkr51· 12 years ago
The answer to your question depends entirely on how many watts your 110 volt mig welder demands in order to produce the welding current you need. This generator puts out no more than 1800 watts on a continuous basis, and no more than 2200 watts momentarily - for starting up an electric motor, for example. Check the owners manual on your mig welder. If it draws less than 1800 watts, you are good to go. Otherwise, you need a larger generator.

PowerhorseExpert11· 13 years ago
This generator may run a MIG welder depending on the welder's amp draw. Some MIG welders require 2300 watts to run. Check the welder's wattage draw to ensure it doesn't surpass the output of the generator.

Oil Drain Plug Accessible?
Is the drain plug for oil changes fairly accessible? I had a genny before and the drain plug was about 1/4 inch off the ground. I had to put the thing up on blocks to raise it high enough.
1 answer-
PowerhorseExpert13· 11 years ago
The oil drain is on the side at the bottom of the engine. It is easily accessible from the side and a low sided container can be placed underneath to catch the oil.

Looking at this model as a "backup" generator ...
To a larger generator...
To power small wattage items such as coffee pot, microwave etc rather than running larger unit.
Planning on getting a 4000 watt or 7,000 watt unit to run the bigger items....freezers, frig, heaters etc...
With this smaller unit work into my "plans"???
1 answer-
PowerhorseExpert11· 11 years ago
This generator can be used to power your smaller appliances. The appliances/items you're powering need to be connected to this generator using extension cords. It doesn't have the proper receptacle/outlet for connection to a transfer switch(if you have one connected to your breaker panel).
