  1. How deep of snow can you put this on? Also, does it need to be elevated a bit to let the moisture out from under?

    1. The Powerblanket extra-hot can melt 4 to 5 foot of snow overnight. The rapid thaw unit you are looking at is extra-hot and will make quick work of any pile of snow or frozen ground. Amazing little product.

      No need to elevate, as the moisture will just seep into the ground as the blanket heats and makes its way to the surface.

    2. The blanket can be used on any depth of snow. It does not need to be elevated for the moisture.

  2. Can this be laid on the ground to heat pipes underground

    1. The power blanket is designed for frozen ground thawing up to 48" deep. It is not designed to be used to heat pipes that are located underground.

  3. can I hang power blanket over a tractor hood? Tractor is stored outside and is needed during winter months, starts hard during real cold snaps.

    1. The heated blanket can be used to thaw frozen ground, keep a vehicle or equipment engine warm and for melting ice dams. The blanket can be used in temperatures from -20 degrees F to 145 degrees F.

  4. If I needed to buy a heavy-duty extension cord for this, what would be the specs? I need about 40ft.

    1. The Powerblanket ground heater can be used with any outdoor rated, 15 amp extension cord. See our item #50326.

  5. Can this blanket be placed between the ground and water pipes, to keep the pipes from freezing?

    1. It is not recommended to be used in this type of application. There can not be weight on top of the blanket. It would not be able to be buried.

    1. This ground heater can be used to keep snow from building up on the ground below your intake and exhaust on your house.

    1. The blanket could be used to thaw the ground in preparation for digging trenches. It will thaw the ground at a rate of 12-18" every 24 hours and would have a maximum ground depth of 72".
