  1. is this trailer capable of attaching to a lawn tractor?

    I own a Simplicity lawn tractor.

    1. Yes, but keep in mind that if you load this to max you will overload the hydro on a lawn tractor.

  2. Installing 2" ball hitch?

    What is involved in converting form the pin hitch to a 2" ball hitch?

    Is it as simple as cutting off the pin hitch tabs and bolting on the ball hitch fitting? Just used standard bolts, or do I need hardened (e.g. grade 8) bolts?

    1. The tongue is predrilled to accept a bolt on hitch.

    2. A 2" ball hitch adapter is available for this tandem axle trailer. The ball hitch adapter bolts on right over the trailer's pin hitch fitting. It uses the pin hitch hole as one of its bolt holes. There is no cutting or welding required. It can be converted back to the pin hitch by simply unbolting the ball hitch adapter. The part number for the ball hitch adapter is POL8260. Call the Northern Tool Parts Department for pricing and availability at 1-800-657-0516. The Parts department is open Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm Central time and Saturday, 7am-3pm.

    3. I was asking about what is involved in installing, not the part number for the 2" ball hitch.

      I was able to find out by contacting the manufacturer directly: The 2" ball hitch fitting bolts on right over the pin hitch fitting. In fact, it uses the pin hitch hole as one of the bolt holes. There is no cutting or welding required, and it can be converted back to th epin hitch by simply unbolting the 2" ball hitch adapter.

  3. Can this be hand pulled if you do not have ATV or lawn tractor?

    1. That would not be practical as the unit weight around 200 pounds empty and can hold 1500 pounds.

    2. You can move it around empty if that's what your asking. But don't even dream of it loaded. This thing weighs around 212lbs w/o the rail kit or a coupler kit added. This is not a wheelbarrow by any means and it will take a man or strong woman to move it around under control.

    3. It could be hand pulled, it will be tough to do. It is meant to be pulled behind a lawn tractor or ATV.

  4. Will the shipping carton fit in a standard (6-foot) pickup bed?

    1. Yes, but you will have to leave the tailgate down.

    3. This Polar Heavy-Duty Tandem Axle Trailer is shipped in a package that measures 75.50" L x 41.50" W x 18" H. It would be too large to fit in the bed of the truck with the tailgate up.

  5. Does the bed dump?

    1. Yes the bed does dump, but it does not totally unload unless dumped over a ditch because of ground clearance so you have to shovel out about a quarter to half the load.

  7. what are the demensions,will it crack in freezing tempatures

    1. Would have to go home and measure it, but I can tell you that it is bigger then it looks. I was worried it would be too small when I order it, but not so, I was very pleased to see how large it actually was. As far as cracking, the tub is made from a very thick plastic, I let mine get full of water at the hunting camp and it froze solid, no problem. Very tough plastic tub. You'll be very happy with it.

    2. I havent had a problem with this trailer in the cold in NE PA. We cut firewood all winter long and used it for two seasons. Love this Trailer!

    3. The bed dimensions of the trailer are 6' L X 40" W X 18" D. The trailer has a high impact polyethylene body that will not crack in freezing temperatures when used properly.

  8. can zirts be added to the wheel bearings

    1. To my knowledge... No.
      They are supposed to be maintenance free and are a completely sealed unit. You can however add some grease to the insides of the wheel hubs that may help prevent wear. I did this with mine before installing the wheels.

    2. There is not a way to add zerk fittings to the sealed wheel bearings.

  9. what is the diameter of the axels and can you change to high speed axels

    1. axles are 1" in diameter and NO, this is strictly an off-road trailer not legal for on road use. The axles are solidly welded to the tandem arms and frame.

    2. This trailer has a 1" diameter axle on it. This trailer can not be converted over to high speed axles.
