  1. the specs say this unit requires a battery and is not included. what type of battery is needed?

    1. Requires a standard car type battery. There is a built in trickle charger that keeps the battery charged during non use. Refer to your manual for the proper size for your model.

    2. This generator requires a 12 volt, Group 26R, 540CCA minimum or a Group 35AGM, 650CCA minimum.

  2. Where are the 16 circuit breakers...and what amperage are they. Are they inside the transfer switch?

    1. The breakers are not included. there are spots for 16 BR style breakers in my transfer switch. It is compatible with several breaker manufactures and works with Arc Fault and GFCI breakers also. The transfer switch is fed from a 100 amp breaker in the main panel, however the 9kw model only has a 40 amp breaker so on generator power you are limited to the output of your generator. Be sure to check local codes and have your installation inspected.

    2. This Generac generator has a main line circuit breaker (generator disconnect) that is rated at 40 amps. There will be no individual breakers in the transfer switch when you receive it. The included transfer switch can hold 16 circuit breakers of any size up to 100 amps. We recommend contacting a certified electrician for assistance with the installation of this generator and the transfer switch.

  3. What is the fuel consumption?

    1. The fuel consumption on this generator using LP (propane) would be 0.87 gallons/hour at 1/2 load and 1.37 gallons/hr at full load. When using NG (natural gas) the fuel consumption would be 90 cubic-feet/hr at 1/2 load and 120 cubic-feet/hr at full load.

  4. transfer switch

    Is this an automatic transfer?
    Disconnect my house from power grid when utility power goes out?
    Reconnect when power comes back on?

    1. This item does have an automatic transfer switch that monitors power quality issues and activates the generator to run as backup when needed. The automatic transfer switch would disconnect and reconnect when power quality has returned to normal.

  5. can this be intalled in a basement with gas heater unit?

  6. can you get a 200 amp switch

    1. This unit comes prepackaged with a 100 amp transfer switch. You could not substitute a 200 amp transfer switch because of the prepackage arrangement. The generator would not supply enough power to need to use a 200 amp transfer switch. The next step up does come with a 200 amp transfer switch. See item below.
