Heavy-duty electric hoist has 750-lb. capacity with single line, 1500-lb. capacity with double line. 16-gauge antitwist wire, spring-loaded remote buttons and emergency stop button. Great for lifting engines, tables, lumber, shop equipment and a whole range of other products. The biggest advantage to this hoist is that you do not need to climb a ladder and crank a lever; you can remain on the ground to control operations.

  1. width between mounting holes?

    I would like to mount this directly to the underside of a 4x10 beam (with a custom bracket fitted over the top). How wide apart are the mounting holes center to center?

  2. Can this hoist be mounted directly to a wooden beam?

    1. Yes, but I would through-bolt it (bolts running from the mounting plate up through the entire beam with nus on the far end). There is not a lot of space to do this, but it can be done. A better way would be to make a mounting bracket, secure the bracket to your beam, and then mount the hoist's bracket to your bracket. JBK

    2. This electric hoist is designed to be attached to a beam or steel pipe and held in place by using both of the included hangers. Northern Tool cannot recommend or advise on mounting it directly to a wooden beam while not using the hangers. Mounting it in non-intended ways may void the warranty.

  3. Can you tell me if this has adequate service factor to lift light loads (100#)- on a one minute frequency all day long?

    1. I was lifting material easily that weight from 8 AM through 6 PM and had no issues. The motor and housing kept cool and it didn't struggle at all. The outside temp was around 82 degrees. My lift intervals were probably every 5 minutes and were at full cable length capacity. .

    2. The Northern Industrial Electric Hoist has a 20% duty cycle which will run for 2 minutes of every 10 minutes.

  4. What is the correct size of pipe to connect the hoist to?

    I thought I read somewhere that it should be attached to a 2" pipe. I now can't find anything about what size of pipe to connect it to for safety and what size the brackets will fit over.

    1. I used 2" rigid conduit.

  5. How do I order parts for a 142260 Electric hoist?

    I need the shaft or I would call it the armature.

  6. How do you increase the lifting capacity?

    How do you increase the lifting capacity from 750 to 1500 pounds exactly. It said to double the line. Is this with an included pulley system? Is the lifting height reduced?

    1. Yes, the cable goes through a pulley, that has a hook attached to it, and then hooks to a hole in the hoist housing. This in turn decreases the length of the cable by 50%. It also decreases the speed by 50%.

    2. This electric hoist's capacity can be doubled to 1500 lbs. by placing the hook at the end of the cable into the hole in the housing that's pictured just above the cable drum. The included pulley block is then used to attach the item you're lifting. This reduces the lifting height capacity from 39 feet to approximately 19-1/2 feet.

    1. Yes, it does use a regular 110 V outlet.

  8. Do you offer mounting brackets for your hoist frame

    The mounting brackets that come with the electric hoist are for round pipe. Do you sell brackets to mount the electric hoist to your square tubing electric hoist frame?

  9. Can the hoist safely operate while mounted upside down?

    Because of the short length of the control cable, I would like to attach this hoist to the accessible bottom part of a gantry and thread the wire rope through a pulley at the top of the gantry to pull the loads up. So can this hoist be operated upside down with the winch pulling the cable downward?

    1. This hoist is designed to be mounted in a specific manner for lifting. It should not be mounted upside down.

  10. What is the height of this hoist itself?

    I have limited vertical space and need to see if it would fit. What height does the hoist take up from top of mounting to hook (if there's a difference in single line vs double, please provide both heights).

    1. The dimension from where the top of winch mounts to the hook when fully retracted is 14 11/16". The single and double line would be approximately the same dimension.
