  2. Is there a surface mount base for this unit? I cannot mount the post in the ground

    1. It certainly doesn't come with one AND given the total weight (and weight distribution - top heavy), it would take a very heavy base to stabilize it.

    2. This unit does not have a surface mount base, the base has to be burried and cemented 14" into the ground.

  3. How do you add additional charcoal while cooking? How do clean ashes out?

    1. Maybe two ways-- 1) remove food from grill to side rack, lift main grill up (easily done), add charcoal, lower rack. You would have to be smart on how you use your cooking surface area. 2) Open ash hatch and feed coals/wood in an dfeed in that way...

    2. Charcoal would be added by lifting the grate, removing the ashes would require the use of a scoop or similar utensil.

  4. Can you customize/convert this grill into a natural gas grill? Thanks.

    1. Anything is possible if you have access to a cutting torch and a welder but why bother? I would not do it and would find some other very fine gas grills on the market.

  7. What is the cooking area surface? How do you remove charcoal ashes?

    1. The model EC-26/S B2 has a cooking surface of approximately 320 square inches. The overall dimensions are 19.5" L x 29.25" W x 16.5" H. You will remove the ashes by using the grill and grate scraper model GGS/B-1. We currently do not offer the scraper through Northern Tool.

  9. We need to replace the grill part but it has an anti theft attachment and we cannot figure out how to get the grill off the post. We cemented the post and want to re-use them for our new grills that we purchased. How do we get them off to replace?

    1. There is a locking pin between the swivel mechanism and the post. It would be recommended to take a long nose pliers and remove the pin.

  10. Where is the ash hatch?  Is there a picture?  Is it easy to clean ashes out?

    1. The grill has two grates, the inner grate would be where you put the charcoal. To clean it, you would lift both grates up and there is door at the bottom on the side where the handle is. You would lift the door up and scrape out the ash. It would be on the right side when facing the grill.
