  1. What is the total width of the portion of the tool that cuts the nut?

    I know from the specs that this can cut up to 3/4" nuts, but when you add the structure of the tool surrounding the nut, what is the total width?

    I ask because I have a nut that I need to cut, but it on 2 sides is a hardened steel bracket (which is what the nut is holding on)...so the tool is going to have to fit between the gap of the 2 steel arms of the bracket in order to access the nut to be cut.

    1. The outer measurements of the cutting portion is 1-1/2” wide by 5/8” tall and the inner cutting portion is 13/16”.

    2. The outer measurements of the cutting portion of the tool is 1-1/2” wide by 5/8” tall and the inner cutting portion of the tool is 13/16”. Keep in mind the tool must slide over the top of the nut to split it.

  2. HOW DOES IT WORKS

    1. The principle is that you place the Chisel centered against the flat side of a nut, and then tighten the bolt against the opposite flat edge of the nut. As you tighten the bolt, it drives the chisel into the nut, cutting the nut and ultimately splitting it. The nut is destroyed in the process, however the stud/bolt should not be damaged. This allows you to get a nut off the stud/bolt, clean the bolt threads up and then reinstall with a new nut.

    2. This nut splitter works by sliding the opening over the nut and then simply tightening it down.

  5. What is the distance from the top of the tool to the hardened "tip" that will crack the nut?

    I did not understand your previous answer about the dimensions of "inner & outer cutting portions of the tool".

    1. It measures 11/16" from the top of tool to the tip of blade.
