The Performance Tool Gearless Brake Pad Spreader is designed to compress single, twin and quad disc brake pistons on fixed and floating calipers. Gearless and plate design evenly spreads the force on the pistons to prevent misalignment. Easily switch the ratchet from spreading the plates to retracting the plates for removal. Includes 2 sizes of plates to fit most passenger and commercial vehicles on the road today. The gearless handle has a full 360º swing, with a 1 1/2in. collapsed capacity and a 2 1/2in. expanded capacity. With this tool you can compress the pistons without binding since they're pushed straight back into the caliper bore.

  1. If the tool gets stuck and doesn't spread when winding how can you fix it

    1. There is a button in the center under the head that you will want to click the opposite to switch the ratcheting position. You will need to make sure that this is clicked fully into position for the ratchet to function correctly.

  2. Can this spreader work without removing the disc or must the caliper be relocated to avoid the disc?

    1. The old discs would need to be removed. The tool is used to compress the caliper before installing the new discs.
