  1. I'm trying to order new stones for my Oregon chain saw sharpener.

    There are two choices for stones for .325 chains by "series" of chain, but nothing on Stihl or Oregon chains lists a "series". What is the difference and how do I know which series chain I have?

    1. The type of Oregon chain ('91', '95', '33', etc.) is stamped into the drive links on the chain. This may be hard to see if the chain is worn. On STIHL chains the number on the drive link only refers to the chain gauge (in metric units).

    2. The series number is stamped on the links of the chain itself. The grinding wheel would depend on the size of the grinder. Is it a 5" or 4 1/2"?

  2. Will this wheel sharpen carbide tipped chains

    1. No. A diamond wheel is required for sharpening carbide tipped saw chains.

    2. This unit will not sharpen a carbide tipped chain. A diamond wheel should be used to sharpen carbide cutters.
