    2. Yes, the 35 Watt NPower Crystalline Solar Panel would require a charge controller. A 7 amp controller, the smallest we sell, would be able to handle up to 105 watts of crystalline panels. If tying more than 3 together, you would require a larger controller. See link below.

  2. Mounting to the roof

    I want to mount this to my roof to power a solar attic fan. I am wondering how to go about roof mounting it. Specifically, what hardware is needed, and iis it sold by NT.

    1. This solar panel does not come with mounting brackets. It has pre-drilled holes for mounting. You would fabricate mounting brackets to attach to a roof. Northern Tool would not carry mounting brackets at this time.

  3. Mounting hole dimensions/spacing

    I have one of the 35 watt panels temporarily at a remote site for ham radio. Once spring comes, I want to replace the fixture I used for testing with a more permanent one.The manual does not contain any mounting information, so I'd appreciate it if someone would tell me the size of the holes along the short side of the panel (which fits better: 5/16" or 3/8" bolts) and the distance between those two holes measured center to center. Thanks.

    1. The holes on the short side of this panel are 5/16" and are 9-3/4" apart from center to center.

  6. Charging battery?

    Can this panel charge one deep cell 12v battery everyday if sunlight conditions are favorable?

    1. Short answer: Probably not.
      Long answer: If your battery is small enough it may work. The amount of power a battery will hold is measured in amp hours (Ah). While sunlight varies from day to day and what part of the country you live in, this will produce an average of about 10 Ah per day. Most likely, your battery is much larger.

  7. Amp Output per hour

    Hour many AMPS per hour can be expected ranging from optimal to cloudy sky's?
    Do the crystalline cell's work better in low and off center light sources than amorphous cells?

    1. For crystalline panels, you can expect 1 amp output for every 15 watts of panel in ideal sun. In optimal sun, it will produce 2.33 amp hours. While it is less, the panels do not have a rated output in cloudy conditions. Amorphous panels will produce slightly more power in low light and will even work with artificial light. The crystalline panels will produce more in sunlight which, if used permanently outdoors, is most always going to offset the less power made in lower light conditions. On average, amorphous panels will produce 1 amp for every 17.1 watts of panel.
