  1. Adding an extension cord

    Can you mount this unit on the outside of a building and add a 25 foot cord to your vehicle on the inside of the building

    1. This solar panel can be mounted on the exterior of a building and connected to a 12 volt battery 25 feet away with 12 gauge wire; a typical extension cord cannot be used. The solar panel is first connected to a charge controller which is then connected to the 12 volt battery. A charge controller must be used with this panel. The charge controller maintains battery voltage while protecting against overcharge and discharge. Click the link below to view a compatible charge controller.     with the 100 watt solar panel, do I need connectors for wiring it to a battery?

    1. This solar panel does not include wiring or battery connectors. However, it can be wired directly to a 12 volt battery or a charge controller(which in turn is wired to the battery). Special connectors are not necessary for either setup. A charge controller will maintain battery voltage while protecting against overcharge and discharge of the battery.   4. What is the amps for this unit and what wiring setup is available to wire the unit up?

    1. The NPower Solar Panel will provide 5.88 amps of power. The wiring will depend on the distance that the panel will be from the batteries, For an example, a distance of 25' will require 12 gauge wire. Between the charge controller and battery, a distance of no more than 4' is recommended and 8 gauge wire would be used.

    The picture shows what looks like a very simple form of roof mounting. What hardware is necessary for that kind of roof mounting?
