This portable NorTrac Towable Backhoe Trencher is powered by a high-performance 15 HP, Ducar 420cc engine. It's perfect for a wide variety of landscaping projects including trenching, planting trees, moving rocks and dirt, removing stumps and much more. It's also compatible with a ripper, loader, rock grabber and other extension components (sold separately). A 2in. ball hitch is included for easy hookup to a truck, ATV, UTV or tractor for transport wherever you need it. Features 340-lb. lift capacity. Some assembly required. HM46 hydraulic fluid and 5W-30 engine oil required (not included).

  1. This looks lighter than others I've investigated. How heavy is the lift arm? Does it still take two to assemble?

    1. The lift arm and the digging arm come already assembled. We and other purchasers used a fork lift to raise and hold position until holes aligned and pins inserted. Very heavy!

  2. Does this ship with a manual containing assembly and operation instructions or do you need to download one?

    1. there is nothing else you will kneed, except engine oil and hydraulic oil, and everything is detail in the information and manual product pages. I'm very pleased with this machine, its grate.

  3. Which air filter, fuel filter and hydraulic oil filter does the Nortrac Towable Backhoe Trencher use?? I purchased 1 and I’d like to get the additional filters to keep up with the maintenance of my machine. Do you have this information? If so can you send

    1. The hydraulic oil sight gauge is located on the left hand side, just below the seat.

  5. Is there a aftermarket boom arm extensionfor the tow behind trencher?

    1. At this time, a boom arm extension is not available for this trencher. We do not recommend modifications like this as the warranty would be voided.

    1. This product is not D.O.T. compliant, and is not road legal.

  7. What are the specs for part D6, the 12 volt battery? (Type/model and aH?)

    1. The included battery is rated at 12.2 Ah. It measures 5.95" long x 3.9" wide x 3.86" high. It is manufactured to the specifications required for this trencher.   8. How to ckeck oil Level in Backhoe Trencher

    1. To check and/or add oil, first make sure the engine is level. Then, do the following:

      1. Remove the dipstick and swipe with a clean cloth.
      2. Insert the dipstick into the filler neck without screwing it in.
      3. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. Make sure the oil is at the FULL mark on the dipstick.
      4. To add oil, pour the oil slowly into the engine oil fill. Do not overfill. After adding oil, wait one minute and then recheck the oil level.
      5. Replace and tighten the dipstick.

    1. We do not recommend switching out the engine as modifications like this would void the warranty.
