Product Summary

This industrial hydraulic directional control valve conforms to the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) D05 mounting pattern for subplate or manifold mounting. As a four-way valve, it is commonly used to extend and retract a double-acting hydraulic cylinder or to control a rotary hydraulic motor. As a spring-centered valve, it will remain in its home position with A, B and T ports commonly connected until shifted electrically to one of two positions to either extend or retract a cylinder, returning to home when the power is removed. Its molded coils are moisture and dirt resistant. Indicating signal lights, manual override, bolt kit and electrical junction box are standard. The valve mounts on Northern Tool Subplate 203321 with 3/8in. NPT ports or 203331 with 1/2in. NPT ports.

  1. What is the difference between closed, floating, and opened

    1 answer

    1. On hydraulic systems a closed center valve will not let fluid move through the valve when in the center position. On an open system the fluid passes through the valve and back to tank and keeps circulating. The float position will allow the cylinder to float with the contour of the terrain. For example: if you were to back drag with a loader on a tractor, the bucket will move up and down with the grade.
