  1. will this work with a 3600 watt generator 15 amps

    1. It runs on my 2800 watt generator.

    2. A generator with 3600 running watts would be enough. However, it does require more than 15 amps. It would require a generator that has a 20 amp 120 volt outlet.

  2. What are the starting watts required?

    Is the 2050 watt number the continuous watts required? What about starting watts?

    1. I'm not sure, but I can tell you we've used a 2200 watt generator with no issues.

    2. The 2,050 watts is the running draw. The Start up is 12-13 amps and 1200-1400W. The running is 15-17 amps and 1700-2000W.

  3. How many amps is this jackhammer? What size cord will I need to operate this?

    1. I used a 12/3 cord (sold here at NT) and it worked just fine. Never got hot. Never tripped a breaker.

    2. This breaker hammer draws 18.64 amps at 110 volts. A 12 gauge extension cord needs to be used up to 25'. A 10 gauge cord is required for lengths up to 50'.

  4. How powerful of a generator do I need to sufficiently power this jackhammer?

    1. I am running it just fine with a 5000 watt generator that generates 20 amps on a 110v circuit. Be sure to select the appropriate extension cord. I got a 50' 10/3 cord.

  5. Do third party bits work with this?

    Do the Ingersol Rand, Dewalt, Bosch, et. al. breaker hammer bits also work with this? I am looking to use both a spade bit for digging as well as a tamper bit.

    1. It's a standard 1 1/8" bit. I find the included 4" wide tool very effective removing packed clay soil and is much more stout than any of the aftermarket spade attachments.

  6. Can I use this off a standard 120 volt 15 amp circuit or will it continuously trip the breaker

    1. This breaker hammer kit draws 18.64 amps at 110 volts. A circuit rated at a minimum of 20 amps is required.

    1. The replacement brush set for this breaker hammer kit is item #HH150609-15. This set is only available through Northern Tool's Parts department, it's doesn't appear online.   8. what type of oil should be added to keep tool lubricated?

    how much oil and what kind should be purchased with this jackhammer? where and how is it added?

    1. The type of oil is Lithium Fett No. 2 and the added oil quantity is 80g-100g. The manufacture does not suggest the users to add the oil by themselves. It is recommended to have a qualified technician do this.
