  1. Will this cut 1", 0.125" wall thickness square tubing at 45 degrees?

    1. Yes. It cuts my 1" 16 gauge square tubing with ease. But you are at the end of the capacity, and it will only work with a new blade (otherwise you'll complete the cut by another method).

    2. Yes, it will do this, but the cut will not be completely square due to the slight vertical angle of the clamp that holds the part in place. If you remove and bend or tweek this clamp to vertical it will cut at 45 deg and be true.

  2. Removable parts

    Are the adjustment are and two brackets on the front of the saw removable. I often use the saw to cut plastic trays for integrated circuits and the trays are usually 4"-5" wide. If those brackets in the front are not removable, I will not be able to cut the trays.

    1. Hi Witz - I think you are referring to the mount of the Quick Release (QR) assembly... If that is the case, then "no" the QR assembly attachment to base is not removable as the sides of the QR are part of the base "cast" (aluminum). Also the cut depth on this chop saw is very limited due to blade size. I would look at a larger cut off saw, band saw or table saw for your purposes...

  3. Does this cutoff saw (Item # 338070) use cutoff wheels with a 7/8" arbor or a 5/8" arbor?

    Someone posted a comment on the product page asking the reader to, "...try and find a cutoff wheel that uses a 5/8" arbor." However, the product description states that the saw uses a cutoff wheel with a 7/8" arbor. Which is correct? 5/8" or 7/8"? I know that 6" x 7/8" cutoff wheels are readily available.

  4. Can you put a saw blade in this saw

    I like to make wooden pens and have all types of large woodworking saws but have a small area in my home that I make pens. I was looking for a small wood cut off saw and this saw would fill the job if you can use a saw blade in it.

  5. is the vice capable of clamping flat materials?

    I have some small ferrite metal ring cores (dougnuts) that I need to stand on end and cut a perpendicular 0.25" slot through one side. Will the vise hold it securely or is it just designed for tubular and square stock?

  6. Can this saw cut concrete pavers? Or is it for steel tube only?

    1. This is designed to cut metal and PVC pipe. Do not attempt to cut wood or masonry with this saw. Never cut magnesium or magnesium alloy with this tool.
