  1. do you hook this winch to your truck battery?

    1. You can if you want to. I have an extra battery that I bought specifically for the winch but to answer your question, you can run this on your truck battery. Just be mindful to run the truck periodically to keep it charged.

  2. Is there a cover for this winch?

    Is this winch also waterproof?

    1. Northern Tool does not carry a cover for this winch. This winch is weather resistant and is made to me mounted on a vehicle. It will stand up in most conditions. It is not designed to be submerged.

  3. What gauge is battery cable?

    Also, if using separate battery, shoudl it be deep cycle or regular?

    1. This winch uses 1 gauge cable. You can use any type of 12 volt battery that can handle the amperage, but would recommend deep cycle if you are doing frequent charging and discharging.

    1. The Northern Industrial 12 Volt DC Truck Winch will have both power in and power out. It does also include a free-spooling clutch that can be disengaged to uncoil the line faster.
