Our biggest solar panel we sell is a 330W solar panel. Although the back power kit can handle more solar panels, the more wattage for solar panel increase the efficiency when charging your power kit.

What watts is it does it have solar panels can you use it inside
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 5 years ago
The power inverter would have 1800 watts. It does not include a solar panel, but comes with a 50 foot cable to hook up to the solar panel. It can be used with up to a 100 watt solar panel. The solar panel would need to be mounted outdoors where it can get the most sun. See item #59481 for a 40 watt solar panel and item #88433 for a 80 watt solar panel.

It says it has an 8 amp charge controler, it that an AC or DC controler and that number is based on what input voltage?
1 answer-
ProductExpert7· 6 years ago
This is equipped with a DC charge controller. This system has a 3-in-1 charging source. It will charge with a 12 Volt solar panel or a 110-120 Volt power source.

How do you convert the Amp draw to Watts? I was advised that 1 watt is approximately equal to 100 watts.
I have equipment that draws 14 amps to start and then draws 9 amps when running. Using the estimated calculator this 1800 watt unit would be suitable as I would need 1400 watts to start and then 900 watts when running. The specification sheet says the unit provides 5 amps.
1 answer-
ProductExpert40· 8 years ago
The basic conversion is amps x volts = watts. The power output for this unit is:
12A/1440W continuous
15A/1800W maximum
Surge Power: 2880W peak
Output Voltage: 120 VAC/ 60 HzThis unit should run your equipment just fine.

What is the weather resistance/durability of the unit?
Our planned use is for boat lift on a covered dock where the unit would be stored near the ceiling with a what I would say no chance of rain contact. Would be subject to humidity, dust and temperature fluctuations. Are there more robust cabinets available or other units that are designed for permanent outdoor storage and use?
1 answer-
ProductExpert30· 8 years ago
The base unit should be used or stored in an indoor area away from direct sunlight, heat, moisture or conductive contaminants. Prolonged contact to high heat or freezing temperatures will decrease the working life of the unit. Unit exposure to these elements may lead to cracking and decreased capacity of the internal battery. At this time Northern Tool would not carry a more robust power kit.

Is this a Pure Sine Wave power source?
Would and or can a 110 Amp battery used?
1 answer-
ProductExpert38· 9 years ago
The Nature Power Solar Home and RV Portable Backup Power Kit provides modified sine wave. The battery box contains a 60AH battery. A 110AH battery would not fit in the battery box, however battery capacity can easily be extended. For details, please see page 19 of the owner's manual "Options For Expansion". A web link to the owner's manual is listed below.

can the battery withstand freezing weather? If I left this connected to a solar panel and left unattended, would it overcharge the batteries?
1 answer-
ProductExpert30· 9 years ago
The battery can withstand freezing temperatures as long as it is charged. Prolonged contact to high heat or freezing temperatures will decrease the working life of the unit. Unit exposure to these elements may lead to cracking and decreased capacity of the internal battery. It should be stored indoors when not in use.
It includes a charge controller to prevent overcharging the battery.Helpful?

Can I connect two or three of these units in a series?
1 answer-
ProductExpert40· 13 years ago
This unit is an all inclusive back up power kit so connecting them in a series would require connecting the batteries all together. This would not be possible to do since the batteries are each enclosed in each unit and a separate inverter for each unit. Also the more units or batteries used would require either more solar panels to charge the batteries or higher wattage solar panel or panels to charge the batteries.
