Add Security to Your Home or Business
Many Uses for Your Protection
The Mighty Mule Wireless Driveway Alarm will keep you alert and on guard 24 hours a day. It's a great choice for a variety of applications. Install it at your business to alert you when customers are arriving. Use it in your home to let you know when your carpool is there; it's also ideal for monitoring parked boats, RVs or motorcycles. Select it for rural settings with hidden driveways to provide notification of someone pulling into your driveway.
Reliable Wireless Signal
Long-Range Protection for Your Home or Business
With a range of 400 feet, the Mighty Mule alarm keeps you safe and secure in your home. When a vehicle passes the outside sensor, a signal is sent to the receiver in your home, office or business, and an audible tone sounds; you can set up your system to alert you in multiple locations in your home or business.
Advanced Vehicle Detection
Technology Prevents False Alarms
You don't need to be notified every time a squirrel crosses your driveway, so the Mighty Mule's electromagnetic technology only detects large moving metal objects, such as a vehicle or motorcycle. This advanced technology eliminates annoying false detections caused by animals or people, which are all too common with other “motion detecting” systems on the market today.
Versatile Indoor Receivers
Install it Anywhere
The Mighty Mule system includes an indoor receiver chime that announces visitors or unwelcome guests. It can be plugged into a standard wall outlet and can be placed on any flat surface or mounted on a wall.
Easy to Customize and Expand
Multiple receivers can be used and placed throughout your home or business. Additional receivers (Item # 42823, sold separately) are also available.
Easy to Deploy, Easy to Conceal
Perfect placement for a peace of mind
The in-ground sensor can be installed anywhere along the driveway, and will detect a vehicle passing by within an adjustable 3–12 foot radius. The transmitter can be placed in flowerbeds or bushes for concealment and to prevent damage from lawnmowers or vehicles.

What's involved in installation? Digging?

Yes, the sensor is buried next to the driveway and there needs to be a trench for the wire to the sending unit (transmitter). This gave me the ability to conceal the transmitter in the woodline. This served two purposes: hiding it, and keeping it out of the way of mowers and snow plows. It is very simple, but mine was tricky because I had to be careful of the buried "Invisible Fence" wire. In addition, this unit also senses ATVs going down the drive.

DIgging a 15 foot trench 12 inches deep, and putting a screw in the wall to hold the receiver.

We mounted the transmitter to a tree by the driveway. No installation for the receiver. Hardware and rain shields are included

You have to dig a small hole for the magnet (about 12 inches by 6 inches). Then a small trench for the wire (maybe 3 feet long). Took me about 5 minutes to install.

After the optimum location for the sensor is determined using the information in the Installation Overview, dig a hole approximately 10 - 12 inches deep and 24" long within 2 feet and parallel of the driveway. Place the sensor flat in the hole and parallel to the driveway.

Can the transmitter be mounted on something to elevate it rather than sticking it in the ground?
-
Clyde· 5 months ago
I used flexible conduit and ran mine up the side of a tree. Has been working for 12+ years.

I mounted mine to a fence post. You will be limited by the length of the wire from the sensor to the transmitter. I also ran it through plastic conduit and it is much more protected from mowers and such with the conduit and post mounting.

The Mighty Mule Alert Systems sensor can be mounted above ground and operate normally as long as you have it flat and parallel to the driveway and do not obstruct its range with any metal mounting material.

Why must the sensor be placed parallel to the driveway if it senses a 25' diameter circle?
If the sensor were placed in PVC in the center of a 16' wide gravel driveway, providing easy future access, would the system work or double signal for each trigger event?
-
SoYank· 3 years ago
I have mine installed in a 2" conduit underneath my asphalt paved driveway where the driveway splits. It detects vehicles traveling down either branch. It's been there for two years and functions well for the most part. I do get false alarms when the batteries are cold. I had to use a USB extension cable to get line of sight to the area in the house the receiver is place.

The sensor will work inside the PVC but will need to be immobilized. Thank you for using Mighty Mule products.

ProductExpert5· 11 years ago
The sensor functions most effectively buried parallel to the driveway as there would be less chance of shifting of the ground (especially buried in gravel) and less false triggering.

will this unit work in winter when the ground is frozen and covered with snow
how high is the sensor when installed as per directions
-
countrylawyer· 15 years ago
Absolutely, snow does not seem to have any adverse effect.

Brown61Dawg· 15 years ago
It is about 18" high

-
ProductExpert25· 15 years ago
Yes, the sensor is usually buried 12" below the ground and the cold will not affect its performance. The transmitter will work best if it has a clear path and is not blocked. Putting the transmitter at least 18" from the ground is usually sufficient.

This Mighty Mule wireless driveway alarm is compared to a door bell in volume and features an LED light for the hearing impaired.
It will beep twice after a driveway signal is received and the visit alert LED light will flash three times then remain lit.
The LED light can be reset after you have acknowledged someone is in your driveway.
