The 250 Gal. capacity Midwest Industrial Tanks Waste Oil Tank features a unique double-wall clamshell design that meets SPCC regulations, eliminating the need for a secondary containment tank. The 68in.L x 36in.W x 38in.H tank is constructed with a 12ga. carbon steel outer tank that fully contains the entire contents of the 10ga. carbon steel inner tank. UL listed.

  1. I plan on permanently installing this on a ship deck. Do you recommend this style waste oil tank to go on a sea worthy vessel?

    1. The Midwest waste oil tank could not be installed on a ship deck. It is designed strictly for stationery, land-based use. Installing it on a marine vessel would introduce significant safety, regulatory and structural risks.

  3. does this tank have an outlet port on the bottom side of the tank for draining?

    1. This tank does not have a port on the bottom for draining. The 2" NPT drain hole is inside the spill box located on top of the tank.

  4. Is there a port to put a high level switch on the inner tank?

    1. Any of the (4) 2” openings marked “Inner Tank” can be used for a High Level switch to be installed in the primary tank.

    1. The tank dimensions are 68" L x 36" W x 38" H. The locking box measures 15" L x 12" W x 6" H.

  6. Does the filter drain filter the oil going in to the tank or coming out? What is the filters size and capacity?

    1. The tank does not have a filter, it has a screen over the drain hole instead.

  7. Is this tank EPA compliant if used outside? does it require a secondardary containment, or is it good just sitting on the ground?

    1. The tank is UL142 rated and has a secondary tank. You would need to check your city’s regulations for having it on the ground.

  9. Can this tank be easily moved from the small side with a forklift? Can a pump be inserted in the 2” opening not under the cover? Can this tank be used for new oil?

    1. The tank can be moved with a forklift. A pump can be put in one of the 2" flanges on the tank. It could be used for new oil, but is not recommended as the lid on it is not air tight and contaminates could get into the oil. This unit is best used for waste oil. A fuel storage tank would be preferred for new oil.

  10. Can this tank hold fluids at or above 200 degree F?

    1. This Midwest Industrial Tanks waste oil tank is constructed of carbon steel and can handle hot fluids up to around 1800 degrees Fahrenheit if necessary.
