This Midland 2-Way Radio Bundle features a full 40W radio with 8 repeater channels to increase your communication range, along with 15 high-power GMRS channels. It also includes an antenna mount with hardware microphone; a 3dB antenna that increases range by up to 4X; an antenna mounting bracket; and a 12V cord. Other important features include 142 privacy codes, silent operation, channel scan, programmable squelch, keypad lock, monitor mode, keystroke tones, digital volume control and backlit display.   2. Is this radio programmable to my own frequency?

    1. The MXT400 has 142 privacy codes (38 CTCSS codes and 104 DCS codes), which can be applied to any channel. If desired, you can select a different privacy code for each channel. See a list of CTCSS privacy codes frequency chart and DCS privacy codes in the manual.. The operating frequency is RX 462.5500-462.725 MHz and TX 462.5500-467.725 MHz.

  3. Will this run off an AC plug in the vehicle or only direct wired to panel box?  The lighter plug does not have enough amps.

  4. what does this mean "Full 40W radio with 8 repeater channels to increase your communication range" is it a ham radio also, like 2m ?

    1. This is not a HAM radio. It’s a GMRS radio that has 40W power. It will communicate with all other GMRS handheld radios on the same frequencies. Repeater channels allow you to connect to a radio tower and bounce the signal even further to increase the range.
