  1. I have to load sand by hand shovel.can you leave the tail gate open to load then close or does the tailgate has to be closed

    1. load with the tailgate down and then close or load with the tailgate down until partially filled ,close the tailgate and finish filling. It will not unload any sand that spills beyond the width of the fabric.

    2. The tailgate can remain open when you load. The tarp is mounted on the tailgate and pulled to the front of the bed. I pull the tarp up the front of the bed and tuck it behind the bed. It really is a simple process.

  2. Will load handler work with sprayed in bed lines?

    1. The liner must be slippery. I have seen some liners that are rough and I do not think this will work.

    3. No, the instruction tell you it has to have a plastic bedliner or the 2 sided slick mat they sell to go with it. Spray in liners are too rough the sheet will hang up.

    4. No it will not. You must buy the double mat to provide a smooth surface for the fabric to slide on.

    3. Yes, it loosens and tightens to fit snuggly on your tailgate. Not recomended for newer trucks with a Wide top on tailgate

  4. How does this work with fire wood?

    1. It does, but does not completely unload the load Wood snags on the corners of the bed and the belt will snag and tear on the tailgate latch bolts.

I have used the unloader for hauling 4' 6-8" diameter logs out of the woods to a cleared chainsaw cutting area and then to haul 18" lengths to drying/storage area and if the loads are kept centered and about truck bed height it works fine> I have installed the slick pad under the fabric and that helps a lot.

    4. This would be the model to use for firewood. As firewood is very heavy you just need to be sure to crank it slowly and also be sure to watch that wood does not get stuck behind the wheel wells as this would lock it up.

  5. would this work for landscaping like I mow a lot of grass will it work for grass and be fine

    1. I hauled crush concrete so grass should be fine

    2. I have filled the back of my F-150 with mushroom soil and composted leaf mulch from the local recycle center. It will pull that out with ease. It does leave some in the bed behind and on top of the wheel wells. A rake or a broom will take care of that. I'll take that over having to unload the truck with a shovel or a pitchfork anytime. They do caution you about leaving the load too long in the bed. Apparently it can "set up" and be difficult to remove. I also have a plastic bedliner that probably reduces the holding friction.

    4. Yes, the Loadhandler unloader will work great for your application. With a 3000 pound load capacity you will be able to haul a lot of grass.

  6. HOW DO YOU STOP YOUR TAILGATE PAINT FROM GETTING MARKED UP

    1. Get the tailgate cover from an old bed liner, or just cut a piece off a scrapped bed liner and screw it to the tailgate.

    2. I installed mine over a bed line, so that kept anything from getting scratched. This is no harder on your truck bed than shoveling.

    3. There is no exact way to keep the tailgate free from paint being worn or chipped with this Loadhandler Pickup Truck Unloader. The Manufacture offers the idea of cutting their Loadhandler Double Mat to size, to cover your tailgate. Or you could use another similar item that is non-friction, to help protect your paint.

  7. Will this drag a load of aggregate over bed rails left behind after removal of a fifth wheel hitch?

    1. You want the surface to be clean and smooth and it will work great.

    2. It would not be recommended to drag this over bed rails. They could snag and tear the drag sheet.

  8. does this work if you have no bed liner?

    1. You need a smooth surface. An unlined bed needs to be in good shape. If there is rust or damage, the liner will not roll off without a lot of resistance. And you definately can't have a non-slip surface. There is no way it would work there!

    2. The Load Handler cargo unloader will work without a bed liner but it is strongly suggested to use a bed liner for smoother and easier unloading of the material.

  9. I only have a 5th wheel tailgate, will it work?

    1. It would only work if you remove the 5th wheel mount. It needs a flat surface to work on.

    2. No, this product must be used on a regular tailgate. It operates best on a smooth surface, that is why a bed mat is recommended. With a fifth wheel tailgate, the product you are unloading would weigh down the dragsheet in the tailgate opening.

  10. Wide Tailgate w/hidden steps (over 4")

    Will it fit over a wider tailgate? It's over 4" at top and widens even further a couple inches down. Also, how long is the bumper strap. We have a loadhandler from 20+ years ago that won't fit and strap is too short and wondering if they have been made to accommodate the newer trucks.

    1. This will fit the wider top tailgates. The straps are long enough to accommodate any standard height tailgate.
