120 or 230 VOLT AC INPUT COMPACT MULTI-PROCESS WELDER Requiring common 120 volt input power or 230 volt input power, the WELD PAK® 180i MP DV can be used almost anywhere. With simple two knob control, the machine is easy to set up for gasless flux-cored welding for deep penetration on thicker steel, gas-shielded MIG welding on thin gauge steel, stainless or aluminum, stick welding or DC TIG welding. The Lincoln Electric WELD PAK® 180i MP DV is an excellent choice! Enhanced Durability Fully adjustable drive system reduces the chance of wire tangling and crushing. Brass-to-brass gun connection enhances conductivity. Durable cast aluminum gear box delivers added drive torque and quiet operation. Easy-turn numeric drive tension indicator identifies optimized ranges for different wire types. Capable Performance Forgiving arc makes dialing in your application easy. Smooth arc starts with minimal spatter. Wide 20-180 amp welding output range for MIG, FCAW and Spool Gun Wide 10-165 amp welding output range for DC TIG Wide 25 to 160 amp welding output range for Stick MIG weld 24 gauge up to 5/16in. sheet metal in a single pass. Weld up to 5/16in. steel using self-shielded Lincoln Electric NR-211-MP wires. Stick weld to 3/16in. (4.8 mm), and TIG weld to 1/8in. (3.1 mm).   1. Can this welder be used on a 20 amp circuit 120 volts in my shop

    1. The recommended voltage is 120/1/60 or 230/1/60. The input amperage is 15 amps. Breaker size required is 20 amps.

  2. Do we use gas with non flux core welding? Like with MIG welding, we use gas, correct?

    1. You would not need to use gas with non-flux core welding. It would depend on what you are welding for MIG welding if gas is required. It is not required for all MIG welding. The gas does help to protect the weld pool from the surrounding environment. A mixture of argon and carbon dioxide would be used to shield the weld pool.
