  1. For indoor use, what gauge extension cord would I need to safely use it indoors w/o the extension cord becoming hot to the touch.

    1. Always plug the heater directly into the wall outlet/receptacle. Never use an extension cord or relocatable power tap.

    2. A 14/3 ga., 1875 watt rated would be ok, but pulling 1500 watts a 12/3 ga., 1875 watt rated would be best. If you need a cord length more than 10-15 ft I would go with the 12/3. You can usually find these in 15-25 ft.

  2. Is the cord to the heater a 3 prong or 2 prong connection?

  3. Does or does it not have a blower? Conflicting answers from some previous questions. Under "key specs" it indicates no blower?

  4. Product description says there is a "power indicator light" but the light stays on when unit is shut off. Is this normal as in indicating there is power going to the unit or should the "power indicator light" indicate when it is actually turned on?

    1. Yes, for many milkhouse-style utility heaters, including several LifeSmart models, this behavior is normal.

  5. Do the coils inside suppose to turn red

    1. The heating coils do not illuminate while in operation.

  6. How long does the blower run

    1. The blower on the heater will run until the heat chamber components have completely cooled and can take from 8 to 30 minutes after the heat is turned off. The heating element and fan will turn on and off to maintain the temperature. If you are on the blower only mode, it will run until it is turned off.

  7. Does the manual thermostat cycle the heating element off and on, or does the heater blow heat all the time?

    1. The manual thermostat on the HT1912 heater works by cycling the heating element off and on to maintain the desired temperature. The heater does not blow heat constantly.

  8. Can this unit be installed upside down in a chicken coop to keep it away from any flammable materials?

    1. Model HT1912 must be placed upright on a stable surface; installing it upside down can impair airflow and safety mechanisms and is not recommended.
