Product Summary

JB Weld TankWeld Petroleum Resistant Epoxy Putty is a hand-mixable, steel-reinforced, non-rusting epoxy putty that quickly repairs or rebuilds anything made of metal. After mixing, it forms an industrial-strength polymer compound that can be molded into shapes or used to build up, patch and repair steel components. Tank Weld sets in 5 minutes, and after 60 minutes it can be drilled, tapped, machined, ground, filed and painted. Tank Weld cures to a dark gray color, is rated at a tensile strength of 900 PSI and will withstand temperatures up to 300ºF.

    1. This is a 1 ounce tube of putty. The amount of area it would cover would depend on how it is applied.

  3. Can this be applied to diesel fuel line connections and then later removed?

    1. The epoxy putty would not be recommended for use with diesel fuel line connections.

  4. Can this be used to seal a small propane gas leak under the gage showing the fill level?

    1. It is not recommended to be used on propane tank for safety.

  5. Can this be used inside a aluminum fuel tank to secure baffling walls? Will it breakdown if submerged in fuel?

    1. This is not recommended to be used in that application. Per the manufacturer, the movement of fuel agitating the repaired area may compromise the adhesion in a short time.

  6. Can JB Tankweld product be used to repair high density polyethylene plastic gas tanks?

    1. The JB Tankweld is not recommended to be used on polyethylene plastic. It is designed to adhere to stainless steel, aluminum, iron, steel, copper and brass.
