Product Summary

JB Weld Black Silicone and Sealant Adhesive is a general purpose RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanized) silicone. It is designed for sealing and bonding uneven surfaces. Upon curing, which occurs when the product is exposed to the moisture in the air, the silicone forms a tough, waterproof seal on most surfaces. It will not shrink or crack, resists weathering and is great for many automotive accessories and household applications.

  1. Can this silicone be used for glass to glass bonding for aquarium applications. Securing sump cut glass panes to inside glass of aquarium? Does it have any mold or mildew resistant chemicals added, or is it purely 100%silicone?

    1 answer

    1. The adhesive could not be used to bond glass for an aquarium. It is mold, mildew and water resistant. It contains added biocides or chemical agents to prevent fungal growth rather than being 100% pure silicone polymer.

While JB Weld Black Silicone and Sealant Adhesive can technically be used to re-glue a rearview mirror to a windshield, it's not the ideal choice as it's not specifically formulated for this application. 9. Can this be used to seal auto passenger windows to the regulator?

    1 answer

    1. The JB Weld Black Silicone Adhesive is flexible and good for sealing, but due to mechanical stress, it's not ideal for bonding a window to a regulator.

  10. Is this product good for sidewalls on car tires

    1 answer

    1. It is not recommended to use the black silicone and sealant on a car tire. Securing the sidewall with an adhesive is not safe and can lead to tire failure. If the side wall of the tire is damaged, it is recommended to replace the tire completely.
