  1. Pumping Distance

    Hi, I'm looking to pump water from a stream a little over 100ft away from the pump into a holding tank. Will it be able to pump water of that distance?

    1. Yes, although it depends on the difference in height from the stream to the holding tank. Take the 'Total Head' number and subtract the height from the stream to the pump and then subtract the height from the holding tank to the pump. If you have a number greater than zero, then you won't have a problem. Note that if you are using PVC versus flexible hose, you'll have better results. Keeping your pipe as large as possible (e.g. 2 inches) will also help.

  2. Does it require oil or is already full

    1. This pump is shipped without oil. Using SAE 10W- 30 oil is recommended, it has a 0.63 quart capacity.

    1. This pump is equipped with an Ironton engine. It is manufactured to our specifications by Ducar Technology Co Ltd.

  4. Can this pump be used for fire fighting during prescribed burns, meaning can it run while not pumping water from outlet hose? Or can the outlet hose have a closed nossle while running?

    1. This pump is not recommended for use with a nozzle or hose equipped with a shut off valve. Cutting off the water supply on the outlet side would cause back pressure and potentially damage the pump.

  5. What’s the smallest discharge hose I can use, for watering

    1. This pump has a 2" discharge port. We do not recommend reducing the output as it could cause back pressure in the pump and damage it.

  6. To get a correct oil level reading, should the fill plug/dipstick be screwed all the way in before checking, or completely unscrewed and resting on the lip of the opening?

    1. To check the oil level, remove the dipstick and clean it. Then, reinsert the dipstick into the oil filler without threading it in, and check the oil level.

  10. Does this pump come with an intake hose?

    1. This pump does not include a suction hose. Please see our item #49618 for a kit that includes a 15' suction hose, 25' discharge hose, and a suction strainer.
