  1. Are the bearings ball bearings?

    1. Yes. Shielded (not sealed, and not greasable) ball bearings on each end of the axle. They roll very smoothly.

    2. The roller has ball bearings on each side that a center rod is pushed through and attached to both sides of bracket.

  2. Are they strong enough?

    I want to be able to slide an 8' pick-up cap of and onto my truck using these rollers. I'm thinking at least four but perhaps six. The cap is quite heavy and I'm wondering if the first two rollers will support the cap until the weight is evenly distributed.

    1. I do not think these rollers would work. I would suggest you use a few long pieces of pvc pipe, much cheaper.

    2. The Ironton Roller and Bracket Set features a weight capacity of 440 lbs. and is only recommended for use with table saws.

  3. no instructions included, but I see no way to remove the roller to install the mounting screws.

    1. To remove the roller, press the end pin inward until it clears the hole in the bracket, then lift the roller out. This can be done using the end of a pen or another blunt object.

    1. The bracket is 2.5" wide x 18" long.

    1. At this time, we do not offer this roller and bracket set in other widths.

  6. Is the bracket for this wider than the roller? I want to mount this in such a way that I need the roller to be wider than the bracket.

    1. The roller is 15.75" wide and the bracket is 17.5" wide. Currently, we do not offer this roller with a narrower bracket.
