    1. Yes, but it may be somewhat messy.

    2. This Ironton Heavy-Duty Hot Knife would be able to cut through recycled plastic approximately 1/4" thick. The blade measures 0.04" wide on the tip and 0.16" wide or approximately 5/32" wide at the center.
