  1. What size is the inlet connection--1/4 or 3/8? Inlet = from compressor into the reel.

    1. The inlet connection is 3/8". I had to buy an adapter to hook it up to my compressor but it was no big deal.

    2. The reel has a 3/8" Male NPT fitting at both ends. Easy fix - just get reducing couplings (3/8" FPT x 1/4" FPT) to go from your compressor outlet hose to the reel inlet hose.

    5. This hose reel comes with a 35-7/16" long 3/8" diameter snubber hose that has fittings that are 3/8 NPT.

  2. Will this hose bend in cold weather?

    1. I've never had an issue with the flexibility of the hybrid hoses, work fine

    2. Yes, down to 20F or so. Much better than plastic.

    3. This is a hybrid hose, meaning it bends better than a PVC type hose (which is very stiff in cold weather). It is probably not as flexible in cold weather as a 100% rubber hose, but I live in Georgia and don't really see extreme cold temperatures. It is definitely more flexible than the PVC hose I have on my other hose reel.

  3. Does this hose require a 3/8 fitting at the Compressor?

    1. Yes. You will need a 3/8" NPT female plug - no big deal! See the review by FSwan for details.

    3. I used a brass reducer to bring it to 1/4" and used a quick disconnect. 3/8" female to 1/4" male.
      Works very well.

    2. Yes, but it requires a bit of disassembly to do it. Go slow and takes some photos and you should be able to get it back together with the new hose.
      There are a number of screws that will need to be removed to allow you to break the case into to pieces. You will need to remove the name plate to get at the one in the center.

  5. Does this hose reel have the non-snag rollers on each of the four sides to minimize wear and abrasion as the hose exits and enters the reel?

    1. I have never had is snag when reeling our or reeling it in.

    2. It has rollers on the top and the bottom with kind of a pearl two on the sides to keep it from touching the sides of the rollers keep it from touching the plastic housing

  6. would this product work with water?

    I need a water hose reel on a street sweeper truck.

    1. It's not really designed to be used as a water hose. But if the 3/8 inch hose will provide enough water flow for your needs, there is no reason why you couldn't adapt this for your project.

    1. The hose end on this air hose reel has a 3/8" MNPT fitting. You will need a 3/8" FNPT fitting to connect to it.
