    4. This battery load tester is only for use on 12 volt batteries. Northern Tool doesn't carry an 8 volt battery load tester.

    Will this tester work on either of these Batteries (AGM or GELL Cell)?

    2. Yes. The tester works based on the CCA rating of the battery and does not care about style of battery as long as it a 12V battery.

  3. One Ironton Battery Load Tester

    How do you Determine the CCA of the battery you are testing? Or does it automatically stop at the CCA if you keep pressing the CCA button? Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

    1. It does not stop at cca. you have to keep pushing button to advance. You have to look at lable on battery so you know where to stop scrolling. After you set CCA
      you push TEST.

    2. The CCA should be shown on the battery and the tester should be set to match the CCA of the battery. Check with the battery manufacturer if the CCA is not visible on the battery. Follow the instructions in the manual for all tests.

  4. does this terster work to test dead cells

    does this tester work to test for dead cells?

    1. This Ironton Battery Load Tester will not test dead cells. The Red light indicates that the battery is bad, has no charge, or is completely discharged. Yellow indicates a weak battery which requires recharging.
      Green means the battery is good/normal and has an existing charge.

    2. Only by revealing that the voltage is too low. Otherwise, NO. If you trickle charge the battery and it won't hold at least 12.6V, then you battery is either shot or very weak. The Amps (current) are what gives you the power to crank your vehicle. You can't get a numerical readout for this data with this tester.
