  1. Plywood deck

    How should the plywood be installed? As two 5 X 4 foot pieces or two 8 X 2.5 foot pieces... Which way is stronger? Is there a way to bolt down the center?.

    1. Two pieces cut 60" x 48" and attached cross ways so the seam is along the "doubled beam" in the middle of the chassis. Also drill 1" holes with a paddle bit halfway through the plywood, at each of the bolts to allow for a flush fit to the frame.

    2. Bought two 15/32 four by eight plywood
      Had one cut 1 ft. wide strip to fill in missing strip after laying 4 x 8 front to back. Use 3/8 1.5 inch bolt with flat washer, lock washer and nut. use two for 4x8 and one for one foot strip.

      You can bolt the center through your middle holes. Use a nail to find center before drilling hole in plywood.

  5. What is a recommended method for attaching a plywood deck to the frame? Is that what all the extra bolts are for?

    1. I don't recall any extra bolts, unless you mean bolt holes.

      I attached mine by cutting two sheets of 4'x5' plywood and bolting them with each of the open bolt holes on the top of the frame using hex bolts and washers on both ends. I included a 2x4 on each side (4" side vertical) as well and through-bolted all the way through those, which provides extra rigidity in that direction. The deck is quite stable.

  9. what are the inside dimensions of the trailer?

    What is the distance between the inner support bars? are they spaced evenly? What is the clearance between the underside of the support bars and the ground?

    1. The inside dimensions on our Ironton trailer are 60-3/64 inches wide by 96-1/16 inches long. The distance between the inner support bars (which are evenly spaced) is 21-21/32 inches. The clearance between the underside of the support bars and the ground is 17-1/4 inches.
