  1. is this product ok to leave out in the rain/snow?

    1. This is weather resistant and can be left outside. However, it should not be submerged in water or have water pool on top of it.

  3. DC Plug question

    Do the DC plugs plug into cigarette lighter and charge the battery?

    2. Yes, you might want to make sure your CIG lighter works when key is turned off.

    3. if that plug is "HOT" with the key off. Not all are.

    4. Yes, if you plug the vehicle power port into your cigarette lighter, it should be able to trickle charge your battery.

      The flow will be real, real slow and may not do well on a really dead car or truck battery. Also, some of the newer ignitions turn everything off when the key is off and out, which may disconnect the power ports from the battery.

      But yes, the cigarette lighter attachment is for charging the car battery through the socket, which in most cases goes right to the battery itself.

  4. auto shut off?

    I assume these will not over charge.

    1. My experience with a marine deep cycle battery - they do not.

    2. Not likely in a larger battery. I leave the maintainer on the lawn mowers here in Ala to keep the battery hot after setting for a few weeks. I have not used it on an auto system.

    4. This solar panel battery maintainer kit has a low enough output that a charge controller (regulator) isn't required. Solar panels/chargers/maintainers rated at 10 watts or more require a charge controller.

  5. Do they have electronic charging ports?

    Can they be used in your vehicles,and do they have the connection ports to keep cell phones or other electronics charged?

    1. No charging ports for phones but a 12 volt plug (fits your car's old cigarette lighter outlet) is provided. However, many cars switch this outlet off in your car when the car is off so it may not be possible to charge your car's battery this way.

    3. These solar panels can be used or placed inside your vehicle and will charge your vehicle's battery through the cigarette lighter/DC receptacle. The panels don't have connection ports to charge cell phones or other electronics.

    1. inside is just as good as long as the light can get to it. the longer the light can hit it, the more charge you will get.

  7. 6volt batteries

    I have 4 6 volt batteries wired inline. Will one of these panels be enough to maintain their charge level.

    1. If your 6 volt batteries are wired in series for 24 volts nominal output, then no, one panel will not be able to maintain them. However, you could wire the panels in series to maintain a 24 volt battery.

      If your batteries are wired in a series/parallel configuration as a 12 volt source, then one panel MIGHT be able to maintain them since the voltages would match, but it's very possible the current output would not be sufficient for the 4 batteries.

    2. Each solar panel can charge 2-6 Volt batteries, as long as the batteries are connected in series.

  8. Can the two solar panes be hooked together feeding 1 battert for more out put charging

    1. I don't see why not. But you'll have to splice wires together (be sure to wire them in parallel so you get the same voltage output but double the current) and other mods to get the desired result. The connectors provided will not accommodate this "out of the box".

    2. It is possible to connect two or more solar panels to one battery providing a high charging rate. This twin pack does not provide the means to combine the panels together.

  9. Blue Indicator Light?

    When the unit is not plugged into anything and is in direct sun there is blue blinking light. Should that same blue indicator light be on when the unit is charging a battery?

    1. As far as I have experienced, the blue indicator flashes anytime there is light shining on the panel. I have one panel over 6 years old still flashing and still charging.

    2. The blue indicator light should be on when charging the battery. Please note, If blue light on the panel is not blinking this only shows that the LED light may have gone out and is not indicative of the solar panel not working. Please test the panel with a multimeter to ensure proper functionality.

  10. How long is the cord? I am considering mounting the solar panel outside my tractor shed and would need the cord to reach the tractor.

    1. Main cord is about eight (8) feet Long two secondary cords one with Clamps and the other with Cigarette lighter socket adaptor. I suppose you could use a longer cord w/mods.
