  2. We were wondering how fast it goes thru a 20lb tank of gas?

    1. It really depends on how badly your gardens are infested with weeds. If there are a lot of weeds you can probably do about 300 square feet of area. Less infestation the gas would go further. Selectively limiting how much gas pressure you use can make it last longer.

    2. It depends on settings which are adjustable. I can clear about 2000 sq. ft. of stone surface driveway in an hour or two. A 20 lb. tank in a milk crate bungeed to a handtruck does that much easily. I alternate tanks with my BBQ Grill. The tank will sometimes get icy from use and pressure will be reduced. Allow to acclimate to summer temps and you can get a bit more gas out of it.

    3. I've started lots of fires with the tank I had and haven't noticed a weight change in the tank. I have not used it for prolonged periods to kill weeds...

    4. I've used the torch for about 3 hours and I still have half a tank left. It depends on the level of flame you're putting out but for most applications I would think this is pretty standard.

    5. There is not a consumption rating on this torch kit. There are too many variables that would effect the consumption. For instance, if you are squeezing tight on handle, how far open you have the tank on, the brand of the tank etc.

  3. Attachments Needed

    Will this hook up to a standard gas grill type propane bottle sold at most stores? Is a special fitting needed for this, if so do you sell it?

    1. Easy hook up to a portable tank. No adapter necessary.

    5. This IdealGas Single-Head Heating Torch Kit needs to be hooked up to a minimum of a 20lb propane tank. If you have a built in valve on your tank, you should not need to purchase fittings additionally.

  4. Does this require a regulator or will it work hooked directly to a 20# LPG tank?

    1. I use it connected directly to the valve on a 20lb Blue Rhino propane tank.

    3. I have hooked it direct to a 20# LP tank and works very well. Noticed if you open the LP tank less than wide open it works much better. When wide open it for some reason does not release a decent supply of gas. The torch has a safety regular in it ( I THINK ). But for what ever reason it works well on fence rows and such things. Be very careful its a very HOT little idem ( LOL)

  5. What is the life expectancy?

    I have the same brand, cheaper model, and the hose dry rotted within two years.

    1. My hose failed after almost 10 years. The new one looks better and more flexible and I will be more careful with its use and storage. I'll continue to use the old torch but they do rust like a muffler because their use and usually outdoor barn or shed storage.

    2. I would think that storing indoors would give you good life of the hose. Rubber hoses rot with time -- just like tires or any other synthetic material. I've not had mine a year yet... so far so good.

  6. Can I convert this to my house gas?

    32 Ft hose would allow me to cover most of my back yard by hooking up to my BBQ house gas bib. Would I need to drill out the orifice a bit? Thanks!

    1. I recommend a separate 20 lb. LP tank for ease of use and safety. No adaptation necessary.

    2. You would not be able to hook this up to your house gas line. The torch needs to be directly attached to a 20 pound cylinder.

  9. I purchased this and it work great. However, I can't figure out what to do with the two metal handles that came with it. It looks like they fit around the pipe to make a stand but I'm not sure. There is nothing in the directions on those pieces.

    1. When you bolt brackets together around the metal pipe right behind the torch tip,
      they make a stand to hold the tip off of the ground.

    1. A high pressure regulator can be added to this torch kit. It can be purchased through the manufacturer directly.
