Product Summary

The HY-C Type 2 Stove Board is an essential wood burning stove accessory that can be used beneath wood burning appliances or on the wall behind them to protect against intense heat. This Type 2 UL1618 stove board provides non-combustible thermal and ember protection for floors and walls from the intense heat, hot coals, ashes and soot that wood burning appliances can produce. The construction is embossed printed steel and 1/2in. thick, specially formulated fiber board backing. The HY-C Connector Kit (Model #ULCK) and Wall Spacer Kit (Model #ULSK) are sold separately to connect multiple stove boards and to install the stove board as a wall shield.

  1. If I need two of these should provide adequate coverage under my kiln, can they just be laid adjacent to one another or must they be attached and sealed at the joint somehow? If the latter, how would that be done?

    1. They must be attached and secured to use 2 of them. A board connector kit would be available through the manufacturer.

  2. Well, this damage the flooring beneath it is set on top of LPV flooring under a kiln?

    1. It is recommended that the stove board be used in conjunction with a cement board. It is recommended to have at least 12 inches beyond the kiln's footprint in all directions. It is not recommended to use the stove board only.

  4. How do you mount this to a wall?  Can you drive screws through it?

    1. When using the board as a wall shield, you will need to purchase the installation kit part number MSULSK separately. You will need to drill 1/4" holes completely through the board and into the wall behind. Northern Tool does not carry this kit.
