  1. I currently own this item but no longer have the mount. Does is need to be installed completely level in order to operate?

    1. My truck had one mounted inside the dash (vertically) and it operated great, the only problem was adjustment.

      I commend your concern, it is better to be safe than sorry!

    2. No. It can be mounted upside down or any way you wish. It is not pendulum activated.

  2. Is the green light supposed to stay on ALL the time. even when the vehicle is turned off?

    1. Disconnecting the controller has no effect on the tow vehicle.

    2. No, as long as the unit has been disconnected from the tow vehicle without disturbing its factory wiring there will not be an effect on the tow vehicle.

  4. Does this product come with instruction?

    I bought a 2005 Chevy Silv. 2500, it has one of these BrakeForce brakes, and I have no idea how to use it.

    1. It is used when towing trailers over 3000lbs equipped with electric brakes. Knob on the side sets power, will automatically send power when you step on the brake pedal, and the lever on the front can be squeezed to activate trailer brakes without stepping on brake pedal

    2. It does come with an instruction manual. These are used with trailers that have brakes on them. It would just plug into the brake wiring on the trailer and there is a light that indicates when you have power to the brake.

    1. The sliding switch lets you activate the trailer brakes without stepping on the tow vehicle's brakes.

    Does the controller vary the brake force on the trailer brakes and is there a manual available to download and look at before purchase? Thank you, Mark.

    1. This TAP brake control does not vary the trailer brakes. When you press the brake in your vehicle, it will brake the trailer brakes. They brake at the same time. You can download a manual directly from the manufacturers website.

    1. The yellow light should not come on when then trailer is not hooked up, and the brakes are applied.
