I have a 1000 gal tank on a trailer with a hose reel and 1.25" hardline hose. I use the system as an equipment power washer and standby fire pump. The reel hold 300' but , I only need about 100'. What is the recommended pump that would give me a good stream(about 50') with this hose. Not sure how to calculate.

can I water my garden with this pump using sprinklers?
-
ProductExpert38· 3 years ago
This water pump is designed to move a large amount of water very quickly from one point to another. Restricting the output would harm the pump.

This water pump is designed to move a large amount of water very quickly from one point to another. Restricting the output to a smaller hose than the 2 inch it is designed for could also harm the pump.
Northern does carry some electric sprinkler pumps though. See below.Helpful?

Sorry, no. All food-grade or potable-water pumps must be US Food and Drug Administration approved, and none of Honda's gasoline or electric drive pumps meet this requirement. -Robert@Honda

Is this a positive displacement pump? We want to have the option to turn off a valve when our tank is full and pump still running.
-
ProductExpert19· 13 years ago
No, this is not a positive displacement pump.

-
HondaSpecialist· 13 years ago
No, the WB20 is not a positive displacement pump; it does not have the necessary expansion cavities, and would be damaged if a valve were installed to block the flow when it was pumping. You can still use this pump, but just need to switch off the engine when the tank is full, if that would work in your situation.

Im looking for a pump that will shoot water like a fire hose. Will this one do that .?. If necked down one inch hose with a nozzle. Needs pressure @nd volume. Thx
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 2 months ago
The pump can be reduced to 1 inch on the discharge side. If reduced to 1 inch it would increase the maximum pressure up to approximately 50 to 55 PSI. (It is rated for a maximum of 45 PSI with the 2 inch hose.) It would drop the maximum flow below the rated 164 GPM. It would drop the volume to about 50-80 GPM.

Will the pump/engine be damaged if the pump runs dry for a certain amount of time?
1 answer-
ProductExpert11· 11 months ago
It is not recommended to run the pump dry. Running the pump dry will destroy the pump seal. If the pump is run dry, stop the engine immediately and allow the pump to cool down before priming.
