  2. Does the EU2000i Companion produce 30amps itself ? or does it have to be run in parallel with a second EU2000i to produce 30amps?

    1. It must be run in parallel with either a standard EU2000i or another Companion using a set of Honda parallel cables.

    3. It will need a second EU 2000 connected with the parallel wire kit in order to take advantage of the 30 amp plug. I believe you'll get 3200 running watts with a peak spike of 4000 watts, when running in parallel.

    4. You will need a second, EU2000i unit and parallel cables connected to your Companion in order to 30 amps of power from the 30A receptacle. By itself, the Companion can make a maximum of 16.6 amps. -Robert@Honda

  3. If I connect the 2000 and the companion do I get 220 out of the 30 amp outlet? Is that what you mean by it doubles the power?

    1. No you are running it in parrelell which means you are doubling the wattage not the voltage so 2000 watts plus 2000 watts =4000 watts it does not change your voltage only your watts.hope this helps

    2. No. It produces 110volt but puts out 30amps instead of 15amps as you get with a standard eu2000i. The Companion has one standard 15amp outlet and a twist lock 30amp outlet.

      All versions of the EU2000i (standard, Companion, camo, etc.) generate 120 volt AC power only. It is not possible to combine them and make 220 volt power.

      When you do connect pair of EU2000i with the parallel cables, you are doubling the WATTAGE. In this case, a pair of EU2000i generators connected together can generate 4,000 watts, and all of that power be delivered through the large, twist-lock receptacle on the front of the Companion. You can also use all the other open receptacles on either generator, and all will provide 120 volts.

    Seems the same as EU Series Gen 2000, but $100 more?
    So why buy this instead of the EU Series Gen 2000 ??

    1. This unit is basically the same as the EU2000i, but it has the 30 AMP connector (L530R). The main reason for buying this model is to cascade it with an EU2000i (using the optional parallel cable set) so you can then output 30 AMPs (actually about 27 AMPs) to power an RV or other large appliance. To connect to an RV, you need an adapter that coverts from the L530R to a TT30P connector on the RV side.

    2. This generator is designed to be run in parallel with a standard eu2000i and has a 30amp socket. If you only need the output of one generator you don't need to buy a Companion. If you need the additional output to run a tool that requires a 30amp output, or an air conditioner as I Use it with my travel trailer when hook-ups are not available, then you would purchase a standard eu2000i AND a eu2000i Companion along with a set of Honda parallel connection wires.

    5. There are two different models for the Honda EU2000I generators, there is the EU2000I1A1 & the EU2000I1A3, the difference is the model EU2000I1A3 has the 30 amp receptacle built into the unit to enable the connection to another EU2000 to double the power.

    1. This can be done with the proper adapter. See below for a 30 amp adapter that would work with this Honda EU2000i Companion Portable Inverter Generator.

    3. No. It requires a 30amp, twist lock, plug. A 30amp extension cord is also made of heavier gage copper wire.

    2. People have run the 1000 in parallel to the 2000 with sucess, although, Honda does not recommend this process. If you google it, you will find several examples of these sucessful stories.

    1. The Honda EU2000i Companion models do not have any DC output.

    2. JesusLives, The Honda EU2000i Companion models does NOT have any DC output, as it is designed to be connected to a second, EU2000i called the standard or regular model. I do not recommend buying the EU2000i Companion if you do not already own a regular EU2000i. If this is your first EU2000i, get the standard model, which DOES have an 8-amp DC charging receptacle, suitable for unregulated charging of a standard car battery. -Robert@Honda

    3. The Honda EU 2000 Companion doesn't have a DC input plug / receptacle, but the EU 2000 does and I believe most inverter/generator DC output is approx. 8 amps. Also, this output is not monitored or controlled, so if you are trying to use the DC output to charge a battery, be careful and keep an eye on it, because its possible to boil over and burn up the battery.
