  1. Does this take the place of a generator and a separate inverter? Does it produce a pure sine wave or a modified sine wave?

    1. good question.
      Honda eu i series generators are one of the few generators out there that has a smooth enough output to run computer gear and radios.
      these days most appliances have computer electronics on board.
      the inverter is smooth.
      most Ham radio operators use these for field days.

    3. I can only tell you that you that the inverter is on the generator... nothing else needed to power low wattage AC household appliances (refrigerator, TV, fans, CPAP, etc).

  2. Can the AC and DC be operated at the same time?

    1. Yes, but to get the full 12V outlet in needs to NOT be in ECO mode. It's also not regulated to not over-charge so you need to keep an eye on it

  5. recommended gas, gas to avoid

    1. My personal recommendation is that you avoid any and all gasolines that include ethanol. You should seek out the pure gasoline, regular grade, that comes without any ethanol at all. You will be glad you did in the long run! The ethanol in the gasoline is much quicker to pick up moisture from the air, thus contaminating the fuel. It also goes stale quicker than the non-ethanol gasolines.

    2. This Honda EU Series Inverter Generator is recommended for use with 86 octane regular unleaded automotive gasoline, with no more than 10% ethanol (E10) or 5% methanol by volume.

    3. 86 octane regular unleaded automotive gasoline, with no more than 10% ethanol (E10) or 5% methanol by volume. Absolutely no need to use anything higher than 86 octane. If you can get gasoline with less or no ethanol, it will usually last longer. You can avoid fuel related problems by NOT letting fuel stay in the generator more than 30 days. Drain it out or run it dry, and only use fresh fuel.

  6. What size AC unit will this run?

    I have a 5500BTU Samsung window unit I plan on mounting in my enclosed trailer, or I can use the 13,500 BTU roof unit already installed. I'm leaning towards the 5500 so as to have reserve capacity for lights and maybe a TV.

    1. I believe your EU2000i will likely run the 5500 BTU Samsung AC unit, especially if you switch off the eco-throttle and let it run wide open while running the AC. I am almost positive it will NOT run the 13,500 BTU roof unit. You should check the start-up watts and the running watts (or amps) for the smaller AC, and see if it remains within the power limits of the EU2000i generator. If it does, then give it a try.

    2. Not sure but I can run both my washer and dryer together with mine, plus you can connect 2 of them together down the line, if you need more power.

    3. This Honda generator produces 1600 watts continuously which equals 13.3 amps at 120 volts. As long as your AC draws 13.3 amps or less, this generator will power it. If your AC amp draw is unknown, consult the owner's manual for that specification or contact the manufacturer of your air conditioning unit.

  7. Jumper cables

    I have a smaller and older version that also had jumper cables that plug into the front. Are jumper cables an option with this model?

    1. I purchased the cable that plugs into the front that is made for battery charging. As far as "Jump starting" it would depend if you vehicle needs more than 1600 watts.

    2. Item number 166730, Honda EU Series DC Charging Cord can be added to allow for charging 12 volt DC batteries. Please see my recommendation below.

  8. can you buy a junction box to run 3 of the inverter generators together for a 6000 watts combined capacity

    1. Honda parallel-capable generators should only be connected in pairs. Testing has shown parallel connections of 3 or more units were not reliable and it is not recommended.

  9. about the exhaust

    can this generator the Honda EU2000
    be run inside and if not is it possible to route the exhaust outside so it can be?

    1. The internal combustion engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide. Using the generator indoors with venting it outside is not recommended. The generator should only be used outdoors.

    2. No. You should NEVER run any generator indoors. Even if you try and vent the exhaust fumes, the Carbon Monoxide gas is odorless, colorless, and deadly and it WILL KILL people and pets in just a few minutes. ALWAYS run your portable power equipment outdoors, where there is a least three-feet of open, outdoor air on all sides of the unit. This will ensure it has enough air to properly cool, exhaust, and provide combustion air fo the machine to operate properly. -Robert@Honda

  10. What is the difference between the EU2000 generator and the EB2001i generator?

    1. EU2000i has a 12V DC battery charging receptacle, but the EB2000i does not. The EB2000i is the "jobsite" model, and it has GFCI outlets, is neutral bonded, and complies with OSHA regulations. The EB2000i is also priced a bit higher. If you need a 2000 watt generator for use on a jobsite, get the EB2000i. Otherwise, the regular EU2000i is more versatile and less expensive. -Robert@Honda

    2. There is no 2001I generator, but there is an EB2000I.

      The EU2000 generator can be parallel connected to the EU2000 companion generator. The EB2000I cannot be used in parallel to another generator. The EB2000I has GFCI protected 120 circuit, which is great in the field for construction use with power tools.
