  1. S S WELDING WIRE COULD THIS BE USE WITHOUT GAS

    1. The SS welding wire cannot be used without gas. You would need to get flux core wire for gasless welding. See item #601061 for flux-cored wire.

    2. No, you would need a fluxcore stainless wire to weld without gas.

    3. The staff answer is right. You gotta have gas otherwise there is nothing to protect the weld puddle. The wire doesn't have any flux in or on it.

  2. What gas is recommended? Tri-mix, 75/25, 90/10, pure argon? Why isn’t this information available in product description or specs?

    1. The best shielding gas for stainless steel welding is 100% argon or a mix of 98% argon and 2% CO2.
