It can be used with either of the 75/25 or 90/10 mix, as long as the lower number is for Co2 and not another type of gas.

What is the difference between the copper coated and the non coated?
-
TheElderWeldor· 13 years ago
Solid wires are copper coated to keep the wire from rusting, fluxcore wire is non-coated, since flux is inside the wire. They each can still rust up if precautions are not taken.

The main difference is that copper welding wire requires shielding gas, and non copper coated wire doesn't. The copper coated is a solid wire. The non copper coated wire is hollow.

will the hobart 10 lb welding spool work with my new hobart 125 flux core welder.
my welder item # is 628575 125 amp wire feed welder.

ProductExpert37· 3 years ago
To use the 10lb welding spool with your Hobart 125 flux core welder, you will need a hub adapter model number 195216. Northern Tool does not currently offer this part.

Yes, but yo will need an adapter for the large spool. If yo are not doing a lot of welding, it would be better to get the small spool, as they can rust up, and it would be more cost-effective to throw away a small spool than a big one.IMHO.

best wire?
what would be the best wire for heavier metals?
-
ProductExpert37· 3 years ago
.035 wire can weld 18 gauge up to 1/2 inch steel.

TheElderWeldor· 13 years ago
I consider heavy metal and 3/4' on up. For those below that, say, 3/4 to 1/2" I would use .035" wire. It also depends on the size of your welder.

what is the best wire?
i live on a farm, so i will be welding things that will be rusty, oily, dirty, thin metal and heavy metal what 1 or maybe 2 different wires should i buy so that i can weld pretty much all of that without having to switch wires?
-
Elantramax· 11 years ago
Depending on Where your welding, Flux Core might be better. As it Doesn't Require Shielding gas. But is tricky to use on Thin, 16 Gauge or Thinner metal.

Before any welding, the metal should be cleaned as much as possible for the weld to adhere. This wire provides excellent weldability with powerful deoxidizers where stringent cleaning practices can not be used. We are unable to provide one wire for thin and thick metal as it would depend on the type of metal being welded.
