    Hi, when using a grinder does this welder run at an idle or full speed? When using the gen, does this welder run at an idle or at full speed? Thanks

    2. The idle control switch can be set at run/idle or on run. When in use both settings will run at 3675 − 3750 rpm. When the run/idle position is selected the engine will run at 2300 − 2400 rpm when not in use.

  3. Can i run a mig/tig welder or plasma cutter

    I know this has a 50amp receptical that appears to be for 230v welders/ plasma cutters, i was wonderng it i could use a hobart 210 230v or a hobart 230v plasma cutter continually for longer periods of time? Would the welder or plasma cutter run perfectly as it would if it were plugged into a 230v outlet at shop or home?

    1. If the Plasma Cutter is rated under the Voltage and Amperage limits, they yes you can use it on this machine. If the Plasma Cutter is rated for 40 Amp/220-240 Volt then you can use it on this machine all day long as long as you have Air Supply that will not bring your Amperage rating below your Plasma Cutter's required Amperage rating. (Example: If your outlet produces 50 Amps, Plasma requires 40 Amps, you are left with 10 Amp usable through that outlet. If you can draw a total of 20 Amps from one of the 110 Volt A/C plugs, you should be able to run a 2 HP Air Compressor to supply your Air needs for your Cutter.)

    2. The generator for this Hobart Champion Elite is capable of powering a mig/tig welder or a plasma cutter. The welder or plasma cutter should run perfectly provided it doesn't exceed the wattage and amperage the generator produces.
