    1. You can use a lithium battery with the generator, but it must be specifically designed as a drop-in replacement for 12V lead-acid engine starter batteries. Standard lithium-ion batteries or "deep cycle" lithium's are generally not recommended or designed to handle the massive, high-amperage surge required to crank a standby generator's engine.
