Can you use an extension cord with the stickmate, if so what guage and max length?
-
TheHeartGuy· 14 years ago
I do, yes. I have 20 feet of #6 that I added a plug and a receptacle to, it works like a charm. My welder is on a cart and the extension receptacle is mounted to the back of the cart.

Yes you may use a extension cord. Most common on this unit would be a 25 foot cord, which is a #8 gauge. Using a 50 foot cord is a # 8 also. Anything over 50 feet, it is a #6 gauge.

Is it possible to lengthen the leads and what size should they be?
I have a new stickmate and the factory leads are short. Can't move the machine much because the power cord is short. I need longer leads. Just need to know how long you can go and what wire size. Does Hobart make a longer set?

Can this run 6010 (5P and 5P+) rods in sizes 1/8" and 5/32"?
I've seen alot of inverter welders can't burn 6010 rods very well. They say to use 6011 or 6013 instead. Can this DC welder handle 6010 5P and 5P+ ?
I always prefer to use 6010 for the excellent penetration and effectiveness on weathered or rusty material.1 answer-
ProductExpert43· 9 years ago
This Ingersoll Rand welder can handle all 6010 rods.
