  2. Can I slow down the pump to 3 gpm

    if so can it be done by installing a valve on either the intake or discharge side of the pump itself ?

    1. Yes, you can slow down the flow rate by adding a ball valve to the discharge side of the pump (don't do it on the inlet side). If you run the pump for long periods of time, you will wear the motor out faster running it at the lower flow rate.

    2. Thanks for your question. It isn't everyday that someone wants to slow down the flow rate!

      The short answer is yes, you can slow down the flow rate by adding a ball valve to the discharge side of the pump (don't do it on the inlet side).

      Keep in mind that this pump has a bypass valve between the inlet and outlet ports, and by slowing down the flow rate, you are placing the pump in bypass. This will cause the internal load on the motor to increase. The increased load on the motor means it will get hot faster due to the increase in amp draw.

      The pump will still work at the lower flow rate, and I want to set the expectation of what may happen. If you run the pump for long periods of time, you will wear the motor out faster running it at the lower flow rate.

      If you were to use the FR410B 12 VDC diaphragm pump (providing it is compatible with your liquid), you could reduce the flow rate without increasing the load on the motor as there is no bypass valve in the pump.

  4. Will this pump fuel oil a distance of 150 feet with a 18-20 foot rise in elevation?

    1. The pump is designed for diesel fuel only. It is not recommended to be used for fuel oil. The lift capacity on the pump will be 8 feet.

  5. Does the pump “have” to be sitting in the position pictured or can it be oriented in any position while pumping?

    1. The pump would need to be sitting as shown in the image to pump correctly.

  6. If used with a manual fuel nozzle, will the pump turn off when the nozzle flow is stopped?

    1. The pump would not shut off when the fuel nozzle is closed. There is an internal bypass valve to relieve excess pressure in the pump housing when this happens.

  9. Will fuel gravity feed thru the pump when it is shut off?

    As in pumping fuel from one tank to another tank that is lower than the first tank, where, in my case, gravity feeding is not an option and is not desirable. Thanks

    1. No, the maximum temperature that the pump can handle is 100 degrees F.
